Nautis vs StartupStarter: the same promise, priced and wired differently

Nautis and StartupStarter both combine CRM, finance and fundraising for startups. Compare per-seat and flat pricing, live bank data and AI approvals.

Summarise

Few products overlap with Nautis as much as StartupStarter. It describes itself as an AI-native startup workspace for solo founders, bootstrapped operators and teams of 2 to 25, from pre-seed to Series B. Nautis would describe its own audience in almost the same words. StartupStarter Inc. says it was founded in 2020 in Los Angeles by Jose Barrera.

A note on evidence. Its homepage and pricing page load through a script, so the plain page text is only a title. The facts here come from its llms.txt, updated 27 October 2026, its llm.json, and the plan and module data in the site's script. All three agree on price. Check the live pricing page before deciding.

The bill is the first real difference

StartupStarter charges by the seat and Nautis by the plan. For one person on Founder, StartupStarter costs less. By the second person it doesn't. Figures below use October 2026 list prices.

Monthly cost by team size, with every person on a paid seat. StartupStarter prices are per seat a month, billed monthly or, at the annual rate, billed annually. Nautis plans are flat and shown at the monthly price
PeopleFounder, monthly ($39)Founder, annual rate ($29)Pro, monthly ($69)Pro, annual rate ($49)Nautis
1$39$29$69$49Launch, $49
3$117$87$207$147Launch, $49
5$195$145$345$245Launch, $49
10$390$290$690$490Voyage, $99
25$975$725$1,725$1,225Fleet, $129

AI allowances run the other way. StartupStarter gives 500 credits per seat on Founder and 1,500 on Pro, so five Founder seats hold 2,500 credits. Nautis Launch gives 1,000 for the whole company and Fleet gives 2,600 across up to 25 people, which is thin per head. Each vendor counts credits its own way, so treat this as a direction. StartupStarter says an AI message uses 1 credit and an Agent Job run uses 10, and add-on packs start at $10 for 500. Nautis lets you top up as well.

Trials differ too. StartupStarter offers 7 days with full Pro access and no card. Nautis gives 14 days on its Launch plan, also with no card. Neither lists a $0 tier on the pages we read.

Live numbers or a monthly check-in

Here StartupStarter has a clear edge on paper. Its Finance module shows MRR, burn, runway, P&L and cash position using live data from Plaid for banking and Stripe for revenue, and the plan data shows 5 connected banks on Founder and 10 on Pro.

Startup Health in Nautis works differently. Once a month you enter cash, recurring revenue and burn, which its guide says takes under a minute. Nautis turns those into runway, growth and burn-trend charts, raises alerts and can build an investor snapshot. That is simpler and more deliberate, and it also means the number is only as fresh as your last check-in.

If you check cash daily or run on tight margins, a live bank feed is worth a lot. If your bank doesn't connect through Plaid, or you'd rather not connect one, the manual routine may suit you. StartupStarter says its integrations use OAuth and are read-only by default, with a one-click purge of cached and derived records.

Raising money in each workspace

StartupStarter

Capital covers SAFE generation, a cap table, an investor pipeline, data rooms and investor updates. Generating a SAFE and sending it for signature inside the product is a real convenience. Its pricing FAQ says Pro adds data rooms, agreements with e-signature and presentations with viewer analytics, so those aren't in the Founder list.

Nautis

Nautis starts one step earlier, with finding people to talk to. Find Investors is a searchable directory with filters and a match score, and a name goes straight into the fundraising CRM. Investor Readiness scores your deck, data room, financials and traction against your round, and returns a ranked action plan. A pitch deck analyzer and AI voice coach help you rehearse. Data rooms are on every plan, but the cap table and equity calculator are only on Voyage and Fleet, and investor deals are limited on Launch. Its cap table records SAFEs and notes, though we saw no SAFE document generator in the guides.

So for a founder who knows which investors to call and wants paperwork out fast, StartupStarter looks quicker. For a founder still working out who to call and whether they're ready, Nautis has more tools published.

S2X and the Chief of Staff handle AI differently

S2X is a co-pilot with 190+ tools across every module, 30-day conversational memory, nine artifact types such as SAFEs, deal triage and meeting prep, and a relationship graph that scores signals across the workspace. On Pro, Agent Jobs run on a schedule. An MCP server with 300+ tools lets Claude or ChatGPT operate the workspace.

Nautis has comparable pieces under other names: Commodore chat, specialist advisors and board rooms, routines, and an MCP connector. The piece that stands out is the 7:00 am briefing, generated on its own, that sorts tasks, pipeline, runway and approvals into a morning list you can act on. Routines are on every Nautis plan (5, 10 and 15), and scheduled agents at StartupStarter sit on Pro.

Both publish how a write gets approved. In Nautis, capabilities default to Ask every time, cards wait in an Approval Center, and owners and admins approve requests from background agents. StartupStarter's site script gives Agent Jobs four autonomy levels (observe, suggest, act with approval, act), with anything waiting on you shown on your dashboard, and its changelog describes a review queue where Suggest-mode proposals expire after 48 hours. Its files also mention role-based access, an audit log and read-only integrations by default.

A four-person SaaS company, one quarter

Take four people at a seed-stage SaaS company with revenue in Stripe, using Gmail, about to open a bridge round with existing angels.

StartupStarter would show MRR and cash without anyone typing them, sequence the follow-ups to trial users from the same CRM, and generate the SAFEs for the angels. On Pro at the monthly rate it costs $276 a month, or $156 on Founder at the monthly rate with no data rooms or e-signature.

Nautis Launch would cost $49 and cover the four of them, but the cap table needs Voyage at $99. Someone enters the numbers each month, follow-up sequences aren't in its module list, and SAFE paperwork would come from a lawyer or another tool. In exchange the same price buys task boards, a hiring module and pay-run tracking, plus a team chat and a briefing that puts overdue invoices next to runway.

Our read: if money and investors are the whole job this quarter, the StartupStarter wiring looks stronger. If the four also need to run tasks, hiring and people in one place at a low flat cost, Nautis does.

Who StartupStarter says should look elsewhere

It publishes a useful list. It says it isn't for pre-revenue solo founders with no CRM, inbox or fundraising activity to manage yet, for enterprise sales teams of 200+, for engineering-first companies that need GitHub-integrated issue tracking, or for teams on a heavily customised HubSpot or Salesforce.

Much of that applies to Nautis as well. Nautis's briefing skips sources with no data, so an empty workspace returns little. Large sales teams need a dedicated CRM, and engineers will keep Linear, which Nautis connects to. We wish more vendors wrote this down, and it's a good reason to read their files before a sales page.

Where each one wins

  • StartupStarter: live finance data, SAFE generation, email sequences, a website chat agent, a longer company history since 2020, and a lower price for a solo founder.
  • Nautis: flat pricing for teams, an investor directory and readiness score, HR and planning modules, and a 14-day trial. Read the startup operating system guide for the wider argument.
  • Weak spots for Nautis: it launched publicly only in July 2026, its Startup Health guide describes no live bank feed, email sequences aren't in its guides, and its credits per person fall as the team grows.

FAQ

How much does StartupStarter cost?

As of October 2026 its published files list Founder at $39 per seat a month, or $29 per seat a month billed annually, and Pro at $69, or $49 billed annually. Enterprise is custom. There is a 7-day trial with full Pro access and no card.

Which costs less in Nautis vs StartupStarter?

For one person, StartupStarter Founder costs less. From two people up, Nautis lists lower because the plan price doesn't change with seats: $49 for up to 5, $99 for 10, $129 for 25. Credits per person also matter, and they run the other way.

Can StartupStarter generate SAFEs?

Yes. Its Capital module lists SAFE generation along with a cap table, investor pipeline, data rooms and investor updates. Have a lawyer read any financing document before you sign it, whichever tool produced it.

Does Nautis connect to my bank like StartupStarter does?

Startup Health in Nautis uses a monthly check-in where you enter cash, recurring revenue and burn. StartupStarter lists live data through Plaid and Stripe. If a live feed matters to you, weigh that heavily.
