Nautis vs TashiOS: the same $49, spent on different things

TashiOS gives you a private server and AI to build and sell apps. Nautis runs a startup's operations. Both start at $49, but they buy very different things.

Summarise

TashiOS bills itself as the self-hosted AI app builder: English is the new programming language, your code stays on your server, and everything you build can be sold. You log into a desktop in your browser with icons, apps and files, and your request goes to built-in tools that create and deploy the result. Freelancers, agencies, side hustlers and people building tools for themselves are its stated audience.

Both companies use the word OS, and both start at the same price. That's about all they share. If you've landed here unsure which you need, ask what you want to be different at the end of this month. A live product you made? Or a clearer view of the company you already run? We read the TashiOS homepage, pricing, FAQ, comparison page and one blog post in October 2026.

What you get on day one

With TashiOS

  • A private 4 GB, 2 vCPU server in a region you choose, with root access, a terminal and a file manager. Node, Python, Git, Docker and nginx come pre-installed.
  • Vibe Coding and WebDev, for building apps, websites and SaaS in plain English. Output can be a link, a shop, or an Android .apk or .aab file.
  • CLAI, a terminal with Claude Code and Kimi Code side by side. OpenClaw comes installed too.
  • Skynet, an assistant on the desktop for scheduled tasks and reminders.
  • A custom AI agent creator, automations to WhatsApp and Telegram, and a TashiOS App Store and client billing to earn from what you make.

With Nautis

  • Liftoff, about four minutes with a website or deck, then calendar and email connected.
  • A morning Chief of Staff summary at seven, drawn from whatever records you've added.
  • Work, investor and sales pipelines, monthly cash numbers, billing, documents and e-signature, all shared with teammates according to their role.
  • An Approval Center, where agent actions wait unless an admin has allowed that capability to run without asking.

Plans side by side as of October 2026

Monthly list prices from each vendor. TashiOS and Nautis meter AI differently, so compare the allowances with care.
TashiOS planPriceAI budgetNautis planPriceAI credits and team
Starter$49$100 a month, 60 requests a minuteLaunch$491,000 credits, 5 members
Pro$99$200 a month, 120 requests a minuteVoyage$992,000 credits, 10 members
Ultra$179$500 a month, 300 requests a minuteFleet$1292,600 credits, 25 members

Seats may matter more than anything else here. Its FAQ says TashiOS is a single-user workspace, with one account, one desktop and one server, so each extra person needs their own plan. Three people on Starter would be $147 a month, compared with $49 for three on Nautis Launch. In the other direction, TashiOS's AI budget is generous for heavy solo building, and its server can be upgraded to 8 GB or 16 GB.

The trials differ too. TashiOS offers 7 days at $0 with a $150 AI budget, but a card is required, and you are charged $49 automatically on day 8 unless you cancel. If you cancel during the trial, it pauses the server and keeps it for 14 days. Nautis gives you 14 days with no card. When a TashiOS budget runs out, AI features pause until the 1st of the next month or until you buy extra credits. Your server stays up. Nautis works much the same way, stopping AI sends at zero credits until the reset or a top-up.

Nautis vs TashiOS on the jobs people ask about

If you freelance, this probably isn't close

Say you build small sites and booking tools for local businesses, working alone. You want to describe a site, deploy it on the client's domain, send them a bill and do it again next week. Everything on the TashiOS page points at you, and it has a billing and app store angle aimed at recurring income. Nautis would give you a pipeline and invoices, and no way to build what you are selling. Choose TashiOS, and keep your invoices wherever you like.

There's one thing to plan for if you're non-technical: the site says you need no coding at all, and it also gives you root access. Having a real server means you have real responsibility for what runs on it, including what you deploy for paying customers. The company says updates are automatic and reversible, and the AI assistant can help. Still, plan who you would call if a client's site goes down.

If you have a team and a burn rate, it probably isn't close either

Say you are a five-person startup. Your engineers have tools they like. What goes wrong is everything around the code: a customer's invoice slides, nobody has updated runway in two months, and the lead investor's question sat in someone's inbox for a week. No AI app builder fixes that, however capable it is. A business operating system for startups is designed for this mess, and Nautis for technical founders covers how it sits next to an engineering stack.

You might still pay for one TashiOS seat, for an internal tool or a prototype, and that would be a reasonable use of $49. Nothing here prevents it. Just don't expect it to hold your company's shared records, since it describes itself as a single-user desktop.

Strengths on each side

  • TashiOS: real infrastructure. A private server and private IP, with no shared sandbox according to the company.
  • TashiOS: portability. Code and data sit on your machine, and it invites you to take them when you go, though the server itself is decommissioned after you cancel. So export first.
  • TashiOS: a route to income, with an app store and creator and affiliate programs.
  • Nautis: many people, one record. Up to 25 members at $129.
  • Nautis: startup-specific depth, from cap table on Voyage and Fleet to investor readiness.
  • Nautis: review before action, with approvals by default. That takes attention, and someone needs to clear them.

Neither has a long public record. TashiOS's site features apps and sites by its users. Nautis dates its public launch to July 2026 and doesn't yet have many outside reviews. Its modules also go wide, so a dedicated product tends to beat it within its own specialty.

FAQ

What is the difference in Nautis vs TashiOS?

TashiOS is a private cloud server and desktop with AI tools for building, hosting and selling apps and websites. Nautis is a shared workspace for running a startup's tasks, fundraising, finance and sales. Both start at $49 a month, but TashiOS is for one user and Nautis Launch allows five team members.

How much does TashiOS cost?

As of October 2026, Starter is $49, Pro is $99 and Ultra is $179 a month, with AI budgets of $100, $200 and $500 a month. There is a 7-day trial at $0 with a card on file and a $150 AI budget. On day 8 you are charged $49 unless you cancel.

Can several people share one TashiOS plan?

Its FAQ says TashiOS is designed as a single-user workspace, and that each person who needs access would need their own plan. One Nautis subscription seats a whole team, with the limit set by tier at 5, 10 or 25.

Can Nautis build apps or websites?

Its guides don't cover that. It can put a form or a jobs page online, and it links to outside tools through a catalog of 1,000+ apps. To generate and host software, you need a builder such as TashiOS.
